Below, I present my completed portfolio/showreel which displays my previous film work and other media work which will support my efforts to pursue a career in film making and shows my creativity and skill.

LO4 - Being able to prepare content and make a portfolio
For my portfolio, I have presentable content from my previous unit work. For example...
Short film - Superglue - Unit 41
Though not completed, there is still enough evidence of my dedication to directing and filmmaking during the production stages of this piece. For example, below is a photo of myself filming one of the scenes.
Short film - Pun Not Intended - Unit 17
For unit 17 I was successful in creating a short film that recieved great feedback from my teachers and peers. As well as test footage, showing the making of the film and out-takes, there is also the full short film available to watch too.
Video segmeant - Game's Corner, Sheffield Live! - Unit 43
For the TV show Game's Corner on Sheffield Live!, I filmed and edited a competition segment which was aired on the show.
All this content can go towards an impressive resume or portfolio of my work in directing and film making. Since most of it is in footage form, it also has the potential to be edited into a showreel.

LO3 - Understanding my own potential career/study routes
My potential for a career and/or job as a director/filmmaker.
Sheffield
Hallam University
offers courses in Film Studies and Creative Writing. Both these courses would
be beneficial in furthering my knowledge and skill in order to become a
director or scriptwriter.
Whilst I would like to immediately get started in working in the film industry, I feel that I lack the full understand and skill that is need to be employed for such work. Therefore, I believe I would be better working my way up to career opportunities by first starting by studying the subjects to enhance my knowledge of the best ways to work as a director or film-maker. Furthermore, Sheffield Hallam University would be able to cater me, provide me with equipment and and the information I'd need to know and, on top of that, support me financially. Due to having already studying media and worked in creating short movies, I would already have a relative understanding of what to expect from film-making when starting at university and be able to use this to my advantage as my education of the subject continues.
Career Interests
Whilst I have always had an interest in film, I believe that
it’s only been within more recent years that I’ve developed a bigger
appreciation and understanding for the making of it and how much hard work goes
into creating a film. While working on my own film pieces and undertaking
different jobs, I began to reaise some of the challenges that came with each
position. However, I realised that the task I was best skilled at was not so
much the technical side of film-making, (e.g. lighting, sound), but rather the
planning for the film itself. I came to this realisation after noticing that I
had a talent for scriptwriting and directing and thoroughly enjoyed working in
both these job-roles, quickly gaining interest in these jobs in particular.
Qualifications and
Skills Needed
When working independently on film projects, as I have been
doing, al that is required is your skills for the task in order to e a
scriptwriter or director. However, when I attempt to apply for either of these
jobs professionally I will need previous experience in the profession of some
kind. I will also require a specific set of academic qualifications, including
a diploma/degree in a relevant form of study in order to apply for these types
of media roles. Whilst I must also obtain at least a C grade in English
Language, I am in with a better chance of finding work in these media sectors
if I have a higher grade in English education.
Work Experience
Opportunities
Minor film companies are often looking for people to aid
them in their film projects in which I could volunteer for the task. I could
also consider sending my ideas to Warp Films, a Sheffield
based film company, and apply to work with them on upcoming projects. Even if I
am unsuccessful in receiving any work from them, it will still count as
experience and I may still gain important recommendations and/or feedback from
them on how I to get work with other hiring film companies.
I can also see online if anyone is hiring in the film
industry, checking websites that specialise in the subject and notify when
potential opportunities may be open.
Lastly, I could always offer my film services online for
people who may wish to contact me to film at weddings or other similar events.
Whilst this isn't the line of film work I would like to go down, it will
provide me with experience which will benefit me in the future while looking
for more ideal film work.
Higher Education
Courses and Funding
To my understanding, I should be supported financially to
study Film and/or Creative Writing through accessible student loans.
Personal Plan
Whilst I would like to immediately get started in working in the film industry, I feel that I lack the full understand and skill that is need to be employed for such work. Therefore, I believe I would be better working my way up to career opportunities by first starting by studying the subjects to enhance my knowledge of the best ways to work as a director or film-maker. Due to having already studying media and worked in creating short movies, I would already have a relative understanding of what to expect from film-making when starting at university and be able to use this to my advantage as my education of the subject continues.
LO2 - Evaluation Work
To impress potential employers in the media industry, it is important that I present my skills to them. This can be done by showing them my previous film work in the form of a portfolio or showreel.
Resources Available
Through working on media projects for units 17 and 41, I can present my film making skills as I worked on creating two independant short films.
As part of Unit 43, I have worked to record a competition segment. This competition segment was for Sheffield Live!'s TV show, Games Corner, an so it was aired on regional TV. To make this segment involved collecting and filming props and voice-over actors, then directing an editing a final piece of footage that was fit for purpose for the show.
Finance
By studying filmmaking and/or film studies at Sheffield Hallam University I would obtain a student loan. Through careful planning and money management, I could put the student load towards financing and funding my future film projects.
Contacts and Networking Opportunities
To successfully gain contacts, I believe the best approach would be to meet appropriate event organisers. For examples, by attending Doc Fest and speaking to the organisers or representatives of the event shows them that I have a keen interest in Doc Fest and film and gives me chance convince them of how I would be befitial towards their organisation, how my work could be incorporated and what a great effect my work may have on theirs.
Help, Support and Advice
For each film I've worked on, I've always listened to the feedback of my peers and teacher and kept it mind whilst working on making the film. As a I develope this into a career, I shall continue to recieve feedback on my work and hopefully gain comments from other professional film makers who have been skilled in the task.
Equipment
To pursue a career in filmaking, I would need to obtain certain specific items in order to continue making movies. These pieces of equipment include (but are not limited to)...
*A professional/good quality film camera. A canon camera shall suffice.
*A tripod.
*An adjustable camera lens.
*An SD card.
These items are essential, though obviously more is needed to make a film, such as set/location, lighting, props and costume, etc. But the camera equipment is the most important for capturing scenes and moments for films.
Opportunities to showcase my own work
One of the best way to showcase my work is online, making either a website or Youtube account where I'd be able to present videos of my film footage.
Another option would be to enter my films in a film fesitaval, which should draw attention to my pieces as film festival have become popular events, drawing well-acclaimed people and supporting new talent. Local events such as Doc Fest and Shaft would be ample opportunity for me to example my work to new audiences and give myself chance to be noticed.
SWOT Analysis
Strengths
My biggest strengths are my creativity and determination, which I proudly display with every task I perform. My knowledge of camera techniques and cinematic conventions are also listed amongst my strong points.
Weaknesses
I'd say that my weak points are my lacking in any professional experiance as I have not yet worked professionally in film making, in spite of some otherwise impressive work.
Opportunities
Since Sheffield is home to groups like Warp Films and specialises in documentary films, I feel that are variopus opportunites to, at the very least, look at filming and production, not to mention get involved in the process
Threats
Only through my lack of professional experiance and technical skills do I feel I would fall flat and be rejectefd the opportunity to help in film projects.

Personal Plan
Due to my skills in Creative Writing, (achieving two B grades and supportive feedback), and my experiance on independant film projects, I feel I would be most successful as a scriptwriter for film. I came to this conclusion after analysing my cheivements and skills listed in Personal Qualities Evaluation.
Sheffield Hallam University offer courses in Creative Writing and Film Studies; studying either of these two courses would help me enhance my knowledge of scriptwriting and improve it to a point where I could successfully persue scriptwriting as a career.

LO2 - TASK 2 - Personal Qualities Evaluation
Personal Characteristics
I would describe my myself as out-going and confident with every task and challenge I am given, espeically when it is for something I enjoy doing. Therefore, having a keen interest in cinema and filming, I work hard to make sure that any film I'm involved is is to the best of my abbility and will often think outside of the box to find ways that the film development could be improved.
Skills
I feel that I have some level of skill from studying media and working on different film projects. These film projects have seen me take on the roles of sriptwriter, director, camera man and more. From working on these different tasks, I have enhanced my understanding of these job roles and how the equipment works and what skills are required.
Relevant Information
I feel that I have an impressive knowledge of cinematic conventions and techniques and how these can be put to good use in film.It is due to this that I feel I could be successful as a director or scriptwriter, as I would have the knowlege and skill to use these in my own film concepts.
Experience and Interests
From working on independant films I have gained a lot of personal experiance and knowlege of how film works and always reflect after completion on how the film could have been improved. I have a keen interest in cinematic techniques and how certain camera angles can greatly change the atmosphere of the scene. I am also a fan of mise-en-scene and how this techniques can frequently be put to good use in film, as I often try to incorporate it into my own pieces.
